Collaborating with the world-class architecture teams, BINM, RDG, and HNTB, we lead the signage and wayfinding design for the new terminal at Des Moines International Airport. To help meet the growing demands of air travel, DSM’s new terminal will accommodate four million annual travelers. The airport’s 22-gate expansion project offers advanced central security screening checkpoints so passengers can move through security more quickly. Upgraded technology and infrastructure include illuminated gatehouses that will signal when it’s time for boarding. Visible from several hundred feet away, this feature will allow passengers to spend more comfortably between arrival and boarding. Travelers can also explore the dining and retail options or relax in the open spaces that are the cornerstone of the new terminal’s design. SPD’s comprehensive signage and wayfinding program complements the team’s vision for this future terminal.
