SPD has enjoyed a 16-year relationship with The University of Southern California, and continues to develop successful, innovative projects with USC that build upon the USC legacy brand and enhance the student, visitor, and employee campus experience. SPD has collaborated with USC since 1996 on a variety of projects that incorporate the iconic USC brand identity and brand standards. The myriad of projects include: a comprehensive, unified system of print and marketing communications (Trojan Magazine, Chronicle weekly newspaper, course catalogs, alumni directory, merchandising style guide, and more); an extensive environmental communications master plan and campus-wide system of interior and exterior wayfinding for the Annenberg School of Communications; wayfinding and environmental graphics for the Ronald Tutor Campus Center (building identity, interior directional and directories, regulation signs, donor wall with over 8,000 donor plaques, interior mural, “windows on the world” exhibit); brand strategy and preliminary signage design concepts for the Health Sciences Campus; interior signage plan for Keck Hospital of USC and including clinical, administrative, and public spaces; exterior and interior signage and wayfinding for the Norris Health Center (opening 2017) including a day hospital and pharmacy, multidisciplinary clinics, labs, education and conference center, and administrative space; and signage and wayfinding system (identification, direction, information, and regulation signage) for the new USC Engemann Student Health Center, a 100,000 sf center providing medical services, counseling services, and wellness and health promotion services to the students on the University Park campus in downtown Los Angeles.
